General Scope

Folia Malacologica is published quarterly as an international journal devoted to all aspects of malacology. Original research papers on morphology, systematics, evolutionary biology and phylogeny, molecular genetics, ecology, biogeography, behavioural and development biology, as well as life cycles of all mollusc taxa (terrestrial, freshwater and marine) are preferred, although papers on palaeontology, physiology and parasitology can be also considered for publication. The papers on applied malacology, control on pest molluscs, and aquaculture can be considered if they contribute significantly to general malacology. Moreover, short contributions: short communications, faunistic notes, conference reports, or book reviews are also published.

Folia Malacologica publishes only the authors' original papers which have not been printed elsewhere (except conference abstracts) and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Every part of papers, including title, abstract and keywords, is published in English. The language of publications is British English.

Folia Malacologica was founded in 1987 as Scientific Bulletin of AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow. In 1995, it was changed into a scientific journal of the Association of Polish Malacologists, which has been publishing them regularly as a quarterly since 1998.

Folia Malacologica makes every effort to meet the standards of the editorially independent journal. The journal is financially independent, supported by subsidies from the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, obtained on the competition route, used for electronic service of editorial work and digitalisation of published papers. Every effort is made for the efficient management and training of editorial and advisory boards, as well as of editorial and publishing staff.
